Villa del Palmar is a Top Mexico Resort: Guest Review

Table of Contents

I wanted to write a review to share my recent experience at Villa del Palmar Cancun Luxury Beach Resort & Spa because I know that people like to read guest reviews when they’re looking for a hotel or resort for their family vacation. Hopefully my Villa del Palmar Cancun guest review can help you decide where to stay during your trip. You are guaranteed to have a great time!

Gourmet All-Inclusive Dining

My husband and I traveled with our children. We knew that we wanted to stay at an all-inclusive resort, because that’s best for our family. Between ourselves and our kids we eat and drink a lot on vacation, so it’s great to have lots of food options included and not have to worry about extra costs racking up.

While reading hotel reviews, I realized that some all-inclusive resorts only offer buffets for breakfast and dinner, but Villa del Palmar actually includes full menus from their restaurants in their Gourmet Culinary All-Inclusive plan.

The Gourmet Culinary All-Inclusive plan includes all the on-site gourmet restaurants, alcoholic drinks, daily snack and beverage replenishment in your suite, and 24-hour room service. So, if you are wondering whether the all-inclusive is worth it, in my opinion yes, it is! Just go on the website and read the menus, and you will see all of the options you have. You can also download the all-inclusive guide that shows you exactly what you get.

Family-Friendly Vibe

Villa del Palmar is our favorite Cancun resort, because it’s very comfortable and family-friendly, with a soothing vibe. There are amazing ocean views from all over the property, and it’s a really beautiful place to vacation.

When you check in, the first thing you notice is the lobby. It’s beautiful with palm trees, tropical decor, and a large chandelier that’s part of an artistic ceiling that adds to the overall tropical feel that you’ll find throughout the resort.

Aventuras en Familia: Actividades para Todos en Cancún

We stayed in a large Two Bedroom Loft with 2,210 square feet, and split over two floors, which was plenty of space for everyone. The suite had a king-size bed in the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom boasting a shower and steam room and a whirlpool tub. The master bedroom was conveniently located on the upper floor giving extra privacy. There was an additional king-size bed in the second bedroom on the ground floor, and a Murphy bed in the living room.

Other room amenities included deluxe L’Occitane shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, plus slippers and bathrobes. I took advantage of the whirlpool tub and took my own relaxing baths after the kids were in bed, and used the robe and slippers when I got out. So comfy! But of course, the best part of the suite was the stunning view from the balcony, which I enjoyed every day while lounging in the hammock.

The Two Bedroom Loft has a full kitchen, which was really great, especially because we were traveling with a baby. We were able to wake up early and immediately have breakfast. For me that was nice because my baby is very into his morning routine, and it was nice that I didn’t have to dress him and take him down to the restaurant first thing. We were able to fix toast or cereal for the kids to get them fed and keep them occupied for a little while as we were getting ready for the day.

Stunning Resort Facilities

The resort facilities are one of the reasons we like Villa del Palmar Cancun so much. We spent a lot of our time at the pool and beach. We wanted to have a nice, relaxing family vacation and spend time together as a family, and we definitely found that experience at Villa del Palmar.

The resort has several swimming pools, and they are split up between kids and adults. Our kids could swim in the kids’ pool which also has a splash playground with fountains and splash pads. My husband and I could pop over to one of the pool bars for a margarita and then meet the kids back at the family pool. There is an adults-only pool, which is nice for people traveling without children.

The beach has soft sand that is good for kids, and there is food and beverage service on the beach as well, so you can order cocktails while getting some sun.

Our kids enjoyed playing in the floating Aqua Park. That was their favorite area of the resort. We almost couldn’t pry them away when it was time for dinner!

There were plenty of complimentary resort activities for all of us to enjoy including kayaks, paddle boards and snorkeling gear, yoga, board games, the Kids’ Club, and other experiences that the resort provides including a Magic Show and family movie night on the beach.

We liked all of the facilities for children. In addition to the kids’ pool I already mentioned, the Kids’ Club was also very nice. It is open to kids aged 4 to 12. It reminded me of a preschool classroom, with colorful tables and chairs, bean bags, cubbies, and games. Younger kids can play with blocks or color in coloring books, and older kids can play board games, Twister, video games, or watch movies. There is also a babysitting service, which we took advantage of, so that my husband and I could spend some time together.

We went to the Village Spa and had a relaxing massage. Knowing that the kids were well taken care of really helped us relax and enjoy our massages even more. Since most children have short attention spans, it’s a nice option to be able to drop them off at the Kids’ Club so we could enjoy more time at the pool without them getting bored.

The friendly staff made our stay very enjoyable. They knew us by name, and they always greeted us throughout our stay.

We enjoyed the rhythm of waking up and starting our daily activities. We typically started the day by going to brunch, then hitting the pool or beach, followed by some activities, and then dinner at one of the signature restaurants. We were pleased with all of the options for food and drinks. Our favorite dinner restaurants were Davino and La Casona Steak House.

Davino is an Italian restaurant with a great ambiance offering a fine selection of pastas, pizzas, and seafood. My kids loved the delectable pizza, which is cooked in a brick oven. Another highlight was the fresh catch of the day.

La Casona Steak House is the steakhouse restaurant serving upscale meat entrees like steak, salmon, ribs, pork tenderloin, and tuna steaks. The pork loin is served with a white pear sauce, which I had never had before. It was a little different and very good. They also have a premium menu with lobster, crab, tomahawk steak and a few other things that are not included with the all-inclusive plan, but you can still order and pay for those items separately. They also have good salads and soups. We tried the artichoke salad and the grilled portobello salad, and the clam chowder soup, which were all delicious.

There is also Hiroshi, the Japanese and sushi restaurant, which serves a variety of flavorful oriental dishes. The kids aren´t a big fan of sushi, but I am a big sushi lover, so I definitely took advantage!

Another fine restaurant is Zama, located in the middle of the property between the pools under a large palapa, so it has that indoor/outdoor feeling. The inside of the roof of the palapa is very decorative and tropical. This restaurant serves traditional Mexican food with a modern twist. Many of the dishes on their menu are recipes from the Yucatan. They have some things that you would expect like tostadas, churros, and flan, but they are presented in a way that you don’t expect. For example, the tostadas are piled high with delicious ingredients, and the churros are a round shape like a donut.

If you’re on the all-inclusive plan, you can also eat at the snack bars and pool bars and it’s all included!

Cancun Tours & Activities

The destination of Cancun is bursting with family-friendly activities, cenotes and archeological sites to explore. We enjoyed a day trip to Xcaret theme park, which offers more than 50 cultural attractions. There is so much variety, there are options to appeal to every type of family, and it is a very educational trip for the kids.

I hope this Villa del Palmar Cancun guest review gave you some helpful information that you can use to decide where to stay the next time you go to Cancun. I highly recommend staying at Villa del Palmar and choosing the Gourmet Culinary All-Inclusive plan. You will have everything you need to enjoy a wonderful family vacation.
