Thanksgiving at Villa del Palmar Cancun 2013

Table of Contents

Thanksgiving is one of the most special times of the year in the United States and Canada, an important celebration that can be shared regardless of one’s religious background or philosophy. It is a time when the nation unites in gratitude and reflects upon what it means to give thanks. Curiously, the date for Thanksgiving is different in both countries, with Canada celebrating on the second weekend in October and the United States on the fourth Thursday in November.

The great point for taking a vacation during these dates is that most employers will honor the vacation time, giving you a great opportunity for a long weekend or an extended stay. It is also a chance to escape the cold weather that has already begun to descend upon North America. In Cancun, the temperatures have only just started to drop into the 80s! It really is a perfect time to visit.

Villa del Palmar, Cancun has been receiving guests for Thanksgiving since its opening in 2010 and the resort makes a special effort to ensure that guests can enjoy (or avoid – some people come to Mexico to escape Thanksgiving!) the special day in paradisiacal surroundings. And you will certainly be giving thanks for the spectacular Caribbean setting and five star service you will receive at Villa del Palmar Cancun.

This year, the resort has a series of events planned that guests may wish to participate in. The Kids Club will run an activity called Turkey Hunt, which is similar to the Easter Bunny Hunt for eggs only with cookies in the shape of animals. The child that collects the most cookies will win a prize. There will also be a Thanksgiving Word Scramble where all the words are associated with the holiday, such as HARVEST (earsvth) and so forth. The first person to decipher all the words wins prize. And finally, during dinner, those wishing to participate will be given a foam cutout of a turkey where you will be invited to write you name in the center and 4 things you wish to give thanks for this year. The turkey shapes will be collected and put on display as the backdrop to the entertainment show that will take place later in the evening.

Finally, in each of the gourmet restaurants, a special Thanksgiving set menu will be available in addition to the usual menu, including a turkey dish!
