Introduced in the late 1980s, the Villa del Palmar brand was created by the Villa Group Resorts, whose main shareholder is Tafer Hotels & Resorts. For over 30 years now, the Villa Group and Tafer Hotels & Resorts have provided fantastic vacation and leisure products to a vast array of clientele from around the globe, especially from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Marketing and selling vacation products isn’t where the company’s business stops, either; it includes a range of hospitality-related services including hotel design and construction, real estate and concept design, tour and travel agent services, and resort management.
Villa del Palmar’s Story
The Villa Group Resorts obtained its very first vacation property in Puerto Vallarta, where the owner of Tafer and his partners in the Villa Group acquired Villa del Mar; they went on to build Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta. With the projects in Puerto Vallarta being so successful, they sought to expand the company with properties in Cabo San Lucas, beginning with a second Villa del Palmar Resort & Spa, followed by Villa La Estancia Los Cabos and Villa del Arco Cabo.
Once Puerto Vallarta was established as a sought-after vacation destination in its own right, nearby Nuevo Vallarta in Riviera Nayarit also saw rapid development. This motivated the Villa Group partners to build Villa del Palmar Flamingos, which is named for its location in an area renowned for its impressive stretch of spectacular beach and terrific golf courses. The opulent neighboring property, Villa La Estancia, was soon built as well.
Around the same time, the owner of TAFER invested in property in the Sierra Madre Mountains close to Mascota, Jalisco to develop the lakeside boutique resort named Sierra Lago. What began as a handful of cabins around a lake has evolved into a wonderful mountain getaway complete with two restaurants, an outdoor heated pool, a game room, sports courts and an outdoor chapel; it also boasts a full activities schedule to keep guests entertained.
The most recent addition to the Villa del Palmar brand is Villa del Palmar Cancun, which has a vacation ownership program called Club Caribe.
