Are you traveling soon? Villa del Palmar Cancun provides convenient on-site COVID-19 testing for guests staying at the resort.
Considering the new government travel mandates in the United States, Canada, and other countries that require inbound air passengers to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, if you visit Mexico, it is likely that you will need to present proof of a negative coronavirus test at the airport before flying to another destination.
Tafer Hotels & Resorts and the Villa Group resorts, including Villa del Palmar Cancun, have acted swiftly to offer on-site COVID-19 testing for guests traveling abroad or returning to the US to make it easier for them to comply with these new arrival requirements and provide minimal disruption to their trips. Testing will be coordinated upon check-in and administered on-site by medical professionals in partnership with local laboratories.
How Much Does the Test Cost?
Antigen testing is $350 MXN pesos (approx. $17.50 USD) and PCR tests are available for $1,500 MXN pesos (approx. $75 USD). USD pricing is approximate only since it fluctuates according to the daily exchange rate.
Which COVID Test Should I Get?
There are several types of COVID-19 tests available and it is important to know which is the right test for you to take to meet the travel requirements for the country you are flying to.
While COVID-19 antibody tests can detect immunoglobulin G antibodies, this type of test is not suitable for travel
If you are traveling to the US, you can take a viral test. NAAT or rapid antigen tests detect the presence of a viral infection and these are both accepted tests for travel to the US.
For travelers bound for Canada, the antigen test is not accepted. If you are traveling to Canada you must take a molecular test such as a PCR or a LAMP test.
If you are traveling to other countries, you will likely need to show proof of a PCR test, which is one of the most reliable tests for detecting coronavirus.
When Do I Need to Take the Test?
All air travelers are required to take their test no earlier than 3 days (72 hours) prior to their scheduled departure and Villa del Palmar guarantees that the laboratory results will be ready in time for the guest’s check-out.
What Happens if I Test Positive?
Should a guest test positive, all of the TAFER brand’s properties, including Villa del Palmar Cancun, will offer discounted accommodation for the guest to spend their 14 day quarantine period.
Guests will be required to follow the protocol and will need to stay quarantined in their luxury suite for the duration of their quarantine period. They will have access to 24-hour room service and a premium selection of TV channels and movies. Should any further medical attention be needed, they will also have access to an on-site doctor, available for an additional cost.
