4 Diamond AAA

On February 19, the travel and leisure company AAA unveiled its 2020 Four Diamond Hotels List, with Villa del Palmar Cancun Luxury Beach Resort & Spa included!

The list comes out at the beginning of each year and is based on inspections conducted by AAA in the previous year. Each year AAA inspects over 60,000 hotels and restaurants and assigns its famous Diamond Ratings. Only the highest caliber establishments earn four or five diamonds.

Villa del Palmar Cancun is proud to be included in this prestigious list. The resort earned the Four Diamond Award for the first time on June 18, 2019 during an anonymous visit from AAA. Inspections are unannounced and are not scheduled for any particular time of the year, so the resort team was thrilled to receive the award.

Long Term Vision Achieved

This is a wonderful achievement for the team at Villa del Palmar, under the leadership of General Manager Juan Carlos Gonzalez. When Gonzalez took over as GM in 2017, he started on a mission to elevate the resort to its highest potential.

“Currently, my vision is to ensure that the resort earns its place as one of the most renowned and celebrated properties in the area. That it is regarded as a resort dedicated to creating memorable and quality experiences for its members and guests. I want it to be seen as the resort where people are made to feel special, where they become part of a unique experience, enjoying the highest standards of hospitality,” Mr. Gonzalez said in 2017.

In 2018 Villa del Palmar made a large investment in revitalization to improve the condition of the property. All of the studio-type rooms were remodeled to bring them in line with AAA Four Diamond standards. Sixty percent of mattresses in the property were replaced with new TAFER Signature line mattresses. Zak Lounge was added, Davino restaurant was remodeled, and the furniture in Caprichos restaurant was changed. These changes were well received by the AAA inspector in 2019.

But it’s not just the look of the rooms, restaurants and furniture that are important to AAA; service plays an equally important role in how a hotel is rated. Villa del Palmar has always paid special attention to service, training the staff in the art of providing excellent hospitality service to guests and members. This is one of the ways Villa del Palmar sets itself apart from other resorts, and makes our guests feel special and pampered.

All of this combined earned Villa del Palmar the prestigious Four Diamond Award.

Receiving the Four Diamond Award from AAA was one of Mr. Gonzalez’ biggest goals, because the award signifies the level of quality Villa del Palmar strives for. Mr. Gonzalez and the entire team at Villa del Palmar are extremely proud to receive this recognition for their efforts.

Upper Echelon of International Resorts

Only top luxury establishments qualify for Four and Five Diamond Awards. In 2019 AAA evaluated more than 60,000 hotels and restaurants, and only 4.2% of them received the Four Diamond Award.

According to AAA, “Four Diamond hotels are noted for upscale style and amenities enhanced with the right touch of service.” Villa del Palmar Cancun Luxury Beach Resort & Spa certainly fits into this description.

Other resorts in the TAFER portfolio also qualify, with Garza Blanca Preserve Resort and Spa in Puerto Vallarta on the Four Diamond Award list since 2015, and Hotel Mousai on the Five Diamond list since 2015 as well.

Now, Villa del Palmar Cancun has taken its place on the list with its sister resorts, making it one of the top Cancun resorts!
