Season’s Greetings from Germain Gallardo

Table of Contents

As we move towards the end of the year, it is time to look back and reflect upon all the events, achievements and actions we have experienced. In the past, I used to focus on the tasks that had not been completed or the goals that were set with good intention but were unable to be fulfilled. Now days, I prefer to focus on the events, actions and decisions that bared fruit. I have learned that it is not just the work that counts but rather the fruits of the work, which make more of an impact.

1. Accomplishments

Team Villa del Palmar Cancun faced several serious challenges this past year, which we were able to successfully deal with in terms of major repairs and improvements with little impact to our guests. For example, because of its complexity and location, the renovation of Zama was a major challenge. The construction crew, lead by Rod, did an amazing job to balance guest satisfaction with completing all the tasks needed to finish the project on time. Team Zama, moved their operations to Caprichos during the renovations. I have tremendous gratitude for the hard work of so many colleagues who remained confident in our vision during this time.

2. New Faces

We welcomed to our family many new colleagues this year. At the leadership level we are pleased to have Luciano as our new controller; Eduardo, as our new Director of Rooms; Mariano, our new General Manager of the Casona Restaurant; Adrian, our General Manager at Caprichos Restaurant; Ivan, our General Manager of Zama; and Angel, who joined us to implement a new menu at Bites Bar. In 2017 we are expecting the arrival of our new chef for Zama Restaurant and our Indian Cuisine Specialty Chef, who will join us in January. We are so happy to have Olga as our new Executive Housekeeper and Candelario as our new Public Areas Manager. Jorge joined our team to head up the Guest Experience Department and the implementation of our pool butlers system in our beach and pool areas. We also have a new Kids Club Manager whose name is Maria Isabel Sibaja and we are thrilled to welcome Edith as our new Administrative Director.

Furthermore, true to our motto of “Creating Leaders,” we have promoted Donavan to Assistant Restaurant Manager; Copelia to General Manager of Palmita; Alberto to Assistant Restaurant Manager; Cristina to Premium Service Manager;  Natalia to Guest Service Manager and Monica to Starbucks Manager.

My wife Betty and I are so proud and happy to have received our third grandson, Julian Gunner Gallardo Gonzalez. He arrived in October, giving us plenty of reasons to give thanks this year.

3. Goals & Objectives

So much remains to be accomplished. Among our top priorities are to develop our teams’ competence in their new responsibilities, which will help them become focused towards their “True North”. Tafer Hotels and Resorts, the luxury hotel chain to which Villa del Palmar Cancun belongs, is growing and it is our desire to help attract and shape dedicated and talented leaders to take on the new roles within the company and lead the new properties planned for Cancun, Los Cabos and later Riviera Maya.

To close, I would like to share my gratitude for the great lessons of the year, the continuous support of my team in making Villa del Palmar Cancun a great place to work, and for the love of my family.  I am grateful for the trust our members and guests vest upon us, trusting us with their investments and vacations.

With faith, peace, health and prosperity, I thank everyone. I hope that this holiday season is spent in happiness and with family.

Germain Gallardo
