Growing up in Mexico City, Chef Tlaltekiti was constantly surrounded by an abundance of delicious foods and rich culture. Whether he was dining at the countless restaurants around the massive city, or in the kitchens of his grandmothers who lived in the states of Puebla and Veracruz, he developed a deep love of food throughout his formative years. He originally planned to study engineering, and he got a job as a bartender to fund his schooling. In the meantime, his interest in the culinary arts inspired him to study gastronomy instead, and, thankfully for every guest’s taste buds, he never looked back!
Traveling to new places has always been an important part of Chef Tlaltekiti’s life, which began with international trips he would take with his father, who happens to be an anthropologist. He learned from an early age to appreciate the various cultures in which he was immersed, and experiencing new flavors and cuisine was a huge part of that. Working in several countries including Argentina, Peru, the United States and portions of Europe further broadened his horizons, both culturally and gastronomically. His desire to travel and dine on taste sensations all around the world is stronger than ever, as it is his preferred way to draw inspiration in order to evolve and grow in his own culinary practices.
His New Role at Villa del Palmar Cancun
Chef Tlaltekiti previously worked for several years in Riviera Nayarit at sister resorts Villa del Palmar Flamingos and Villa La Estancia, and he is thrilled to return to the Tafer Resorts family, this time in Cancun. His current position allows him to put his wealth of knowledge and past experiences to terrific use. Not only does he focus his attention on ensuring that guests receive outstanding service while enjoying scrumptious foods alongside a superb selection of beverages ranging from fine wines to handcrafted cocktails, he is mindful that the settings in which these culinary encounters take place enhance the overall dining experience.
