When planning a recent family getaway to Cancun, Mexico, I was looking for an all-inclusive resort that was kid-friendly and would keep my kids entertained as well as safe. That’s when I discovered Villa del Palmar Cancun Luxury Beach Resort & Spa. We booked the Two Bedroom Ocean View Suite and had an absolutely amazing time with all of the amenities offered, including the convenient Family Program. Read on to see my review and you’ll see why I’m already planning our next trip back!
Two Bedroom Ocean View
The stunning Two Bedroom Ocean View Suite at Villa del Palmar was spacious and comfortable, perfect for me and the rest of my family. The suite was decorated with earthy tones and natural colors which added a nice relaxing vibe to the place.
The suite included a full-sized kitchen, a living room, 3 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, a dining area, and a Murphy bed. In the living room, we were able to kick back and relax with the premium TV channels on a 50-inch Smart TV. It was the perfect way to chill out after being out in the sun all day.
We also had a private balcony with amazing views. My favorite way to start the day was to make a coffee with the Nespresso machine and sit outside on the balcony. The hammock was also really nice for afternoon naps.
The suite was equipped with all the modern comforts we could’ve asked for, including a washer and dryer (which is so helpful when traveling with young kids), a fridge, stove, microwave, and air conditioning (a life-saver during some of the warmer afternoons). The wet bar was also amazing for making drinks in the evening.
Suites at Villa del Palmar Cancun
Depending on your budget and what you’re looking for during your stay, Villa del Palmar Cancun has room options to suit every type of traveler.
My family and I stayed in the Two Bedroom Ocean View Suite since we wanted to make the most of our stay at the beach and knew we needed a little extra space for us to all fit comfortably.
There are also garden view suites available, as well as Deluxe and One Bedroom suites to choose from based on your needs.
I would definitely recommend going with the Two Bedroom Ocean View Suite if you are traveling with your family, or are with a group of friends, since we were all able to spread out comfortably.
Family Program
Another reason my family and I were drawn to Villa del Palmar Cancun was because of the incredible Family Program!
Because of the Family Program, my two young kids were able to stay and eat for free! They also received coloring books, plush toys, and other goodies to take home (which they loved!). Another treat for them was the kid-sized robes and slippers they could wear during their stay, which made them feel extra special. There is also a babysitting service my husband and I paid a bit extra for one evening so we could have a date night to ourselves.
If you are bringing your baby to the resort, complimentary amenities are available to use during your stay, including baby bottle sterilizers, strollers, bouncers, and car seats.
The Family Program also includes Wi-Fi on unlimited devices and complimentary resort activities like the Kids’ Club which had a ton of fun things to keep my kids entertained. They built sandcastles, did scavenger hunts, made crafts, and played musical chairs. They also loved the Wibit Aqua Park.
While the kids enjoyed their time playing and socializing with other kids at the Kids’ Club, my husband and I did yoga on the pier, attended a couple of Spanish lessons, took a salsa dance class, or just relaxed next to the swimming pools. One afternoon we played Family Bingo at Zak Bar. We were really impressed with the range of resort activities offered.
Another thing the kids loved was the Magic Show, which happens every Tuesday at 9:00 pm around the main pool. The magician was just fantastic and full of awe-inspiring tricks.
Outstanding Culinary Experiences
Apart from the other activities offered at the resort, our favorite activity was trying different cuisine at the on-site gourmet restaurants. We opted for the Gourmet Culinary All-Inclusive Plan, which gave us access to dine at all the restaurants at Villa del Palmar Cancun, all the restaurants at its fabulous sister resort Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun, as well as 24-hour room service. The quality of the food and the range of options makes this plan so worth it, and I would definitely recommend it. Villa del Palmar Cancun and Garza Blanca Cancun offer both Mexican and world cuisine.
My favorite spot for lunch was Zamá, the resort’s Mexican restaurant. The Green Enchiladas were so delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very casual and the décor reminded me of Aztec art.
My kids loved the pizzas at Bite Bar and I was so glad to find they had a spot serving snacks like this. They also loved the buffet at Caprichos restaurant and trying different foods that we don’t normally have at home.
Hiroshi serves Japanese cuisine, Davino specializes in Italian cuisine and seafood, and La Casona Steak House is the place to go for mouthwatering steaks.
The Palmita Market & Deli was also a life-saver because I could always find a snack for the kiddos (and not to mention Starbucks coffee for me!).
We also tried Blanca Blue at Garza Blanca Cancun for breakfast, which is an absolutely stunning restaurant and we loved sitting outside and having breakfast on the terrace.
For our date night, my husband and I went to BocaDos Steak House, also at Garza Blanca Cancun, and we had the most incredible meal. For appetizers, we had Caesar Salad and Mussels Alla Sorrentina. For the main course, we shared the 30-ounce Porterhouse dry-aged steak, which was so tender and delicious and we also tried a few of the sauces with it including béarnaise, hollandaise, and the special BocaDos sauce, but really the steaks are so tasty on their own, you don’t really need to add anything extra. We ordered sides of grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes to go with our main course. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Fondant, a volcano of chocolatey goodness. That was one of the best meals we had had in a long time and I cannot stop thinking about all the food!
The service at every restaurant we went to was absolutely phenomenal from every single person and someone was always there to help us with whatever we needed. It seemed that they even anticipated our needs before we did!
Divine Pampering
I would definitely stay at Villa del Palmar again. Our Two Bedroom Ocean View Suite was exactly what we wanted for our family vacation and the rest of the resort was very accommodating to our needs with our young children.
On top of the Family Program being so helpful, I also have to mention The Village Spa. Wow. The spa was so beautiful and I felt relaxed as soon as I walked in. They have every spa treatment you can imagine, from massages to facials to full healing rituals.
I tried the HydraFacial since I had heard so much about them recently and now, I understand why they’re so popular! The spa therapist was so calming and gentle and told me about each step of the facial. My skin was glowing after and felt so fresh and rejuvenated.
My husband booked himself a “Cozumel” Deep Tissue Massage and he said afterwards that he’s never felt so light and relaxed. Next time we go I want to try the “Sayab ha” Hydrating Mud Wrap.
Best Resort in Cancun
Overall, I would definitely recommend Villa del Palmar Cancun to anyone wanting to plan a trip with their family or friends. The vacation was so relaxing because I didn’t have to plan activities or meals out at all — everything was done for us already! Our Two Bedroom Ocean View Suite was the highlight of the trip and made us feel as if we were right at home (if our home was in a stunning tropical destination!). There are so many things to do as a young family, thanks to the activities included in the Family Program, but this destination would also be amazing with a group of friends.
