Since no one knows how long government mandated travel restrictions will be in place, Villa del Palmar Cancun has created a new flexible travel policy.

Travel Flexibility

If you want to start planning your next vacation, but are uncertain about the dates, we can help. We have implemented a flexible dates policy that allows you to change the dates of your trip at any time until 2021 without any penalty.

So, go ahead and pick any dates that seem like they will work for you, and book your trip now. If your plans change, or if travel restrictions continue, you can change your dates through our reservations desk with no change fees.

Most airlines also have a similar flexible cancelation policy right now allowing you to change dates with no penalty, and combined with flight deals, it’s actually a very good time to book your future travel, knowing there is flexibility and you won’t be locked in with change fees.

Schedule Some Fun Activities

Surf Activity
You can try some aquatic activities, like surf.

Vacation is all about fun, and Cancun has no shortage of activities! In Cancun, you will find all the outdoor adventure activities you could possibly want, including parasailing, ziplining, jet-skiing, whale watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with whale sharks, horseback riding, flyboarding, hiking, surfing, ATV tours and much, much more. Cancun has something for everyone and something for all ages. The concierge at Villa del Palmar can help you book all of your activities before you arrive!

Plan a Cultural Experience

The Riviera Maya is full of archaeological sites that you can visit.

When you plan your travel Mexico, it’s a great idea to plan to experience the local culture and cuisine. Mexico has so many flavors and traditions, it’s easy to find lots of fun Mexican things for the whole family to enjoy. Dinner at a traditional restaurant and a trip to a local dulceria (candy store) are always a great way to learn about Mexican culture through food.

The Mayan Museum of Cancun is also a favorite cultural experience. The museum is a modern building next to an archeological site. Inside, you will find one of the region’s best collections of Mayan artifacts that have been found in the area, as well as historical explanations and lots of information about Mayan history and culture. Outside, you can walk around the jungle and admire the Mayan ruins site. The museum is just a 30-minute drive south of Villa del Palmar. If you want to check it out before you go, you can take a virtual tour here.

Plan Some Beach Time

Obviously, one of the best activities to do in Cancun is to hit the beach. While you might be sitting in the frozen north during the end of a long winter at this moment, daydreaming of Cancun and thinking you will spend nearly 100% of your time on the beach, you would be wise to think again. Too much sun and heat exposure can ruin your vacation.

If you’re coming for vacation after not having seen the sun for a while, you can get sunburned and heat stroke rather easily. It’s actually a much better idea to be a bit more strategic about when you plan to hit the beach.

The best time of day is actually not first thing in the morning. The sun’s rays are so direct in the morning that you can get burned within about 20 minutes. It’s much better to wait until after about 2pm or 3pm in the afternoon when the sun’s rays are less intense. At that time, you can enjoy the warmth without worrying as much about getting burned with the morning intensity of the sun. If you do decide to go to the beach in the morning, make sure you wear sunscreen and sit in the shade under an umbrella. Villa del Palmar has lounge chairs and umbrellas on our beach, perfect for enjoying a day without getting burned.

Get Off The Beaten Path

Cancún, Quintana Roo

Find a lesser-known adventure to explore. The concierge at Villa del Palmar can help with some suggestions of things that only locals know about, but here is a short list of ideas to get you started.

  • Visit the MUSA (Museo Subacuatico de Arte), an underwater museum that features over 500 sculptures that can be seen by scuba diving.
  • Plan a day trip to Isla Contoy, which is one of the most important bird nesting sites in Mexico.
  • Visit Xoximilco Cancun and have a dinner party aboard a trajinera (traditional gondola-like boat) as the boat tours through jungle canals. Live music, dancing, and tequila are included.
  • Visit the Croco Cun Zoo in Puerto Morelos, and get up close and personal crocodiles, snakes, deers, monkeys, and Mexican hairless dogs. Kids under age 5 get in free!
  • Take a walk around downtown and find street art along Avenida Bonampak and Calle Lopez Portillo, as well as along Avenida Yaxchilán, Avenida Uxmal and Avenida Nader.
  • Check out El Rey Ruins. This small ruins site is located on the west side of Kukulcán Blvd in the hotel zone. Kids get in free!
  • Visit Rio Secreto. Located just about an hour drive south of Cancun (about 8 km south of Playa del Carmen), Rio Secreto is an underground complex of caves and tunnels. Its name means Secret River and is one of the most unique places you can visit in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Schedule Some Down time

After all, that’s part of the point of vacation, to rest. So, make sure you schedule some free time when you can just do nothing.

Keep Your packing List Light

When you head to Cancun, you don’t need to bring 20 changes of clothes and shoes. Just pack your bathing suit, sunglasses, shorts, flip flops, and walking shoes, and you’re ready to go!

Right now there are some great deals out there, so call the reservations desk at Villa del Palmar to book your trip today! Remember, change fees are waived in the case that you need to change the dates of your trip at any time until 2021.
