Historical Excursions in Cancun Mexico
There is plenty of history in and around the city of Cancun dating back to the 3rd Century, B.C. The Mayans had a vast empire running through the land that is now the tropical paradise we know as Cancun. Visit the Ruinas del Rey in the Hotel Zone to see ancient Mayan architecture once used for astrological purposes. And if you have time, trek to Chichen Itza, >the greatest archeological site in all of Mexico to see the historic pyramid, and Tulum, the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city located on the cliffs right above the sea, also with one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.
