As October Wellness 2016 draws to a close, we look back on the highlights of this year’s month-long event dedicated to wellbeing, health and beauty, which took place at Villa del Palmar Cancun, making full use of the resort’s wide selection of areas for relaxation, fitness and meditation.
Special Guests
In addition to our in-house wellness gurus, Magali Rodríguez Ramírez and Francisco Ramos, who ran a number of yoga and fitness workshops, we were honoured to welcome a host of special guests who are experts in the field of health and wellness. Expert yoga instructor, Ana Bolio offered yoga, Juan Sosa Molina led the sunrise Crossfit sessions, Janet Goodwin joined us from FIAFITNATION to guide aqua aerobics and aque zumba, Alo Yoga and Lululemon ambassador, Naya Rappaport, provided Vinyasa flow yoga lessons, Ann Callahan animated the guests with zumba while Keely Dubrova shared her expertise in PiYo® LIVE. Auri Diaz also contributed with an inspiring Mayan healing session and sound therapy while guest chef, Miguel Bautista, co-founder of Vegan Planet Mexico, tempted tastebuds with his vegan cooking classes.
Wellness activities
Each of our our special guests contributed to the success of October Wellness, inspiring guests with a number of activities:
Aqua
In this amazing class, guests used the water’s resistance to shape muscles and burn calories.
Crossfit
This body blasting class helped guests to tone and condition their bodies as the sun rose over the Caribbean Sea at Villa del Palmar Cancun.
Aqua Zumba
Our Latin and international dance inspired fitness pool party was great fun for all levels of fitness.
Mayan Healing
This experience combined ancient techniques with therapeutic and mystical effects that have been passed down through generations by the Mayan people.
Sound Therapy
This experience touched all of the senses, with Auri Díaz and Magali Rodriguez taking guests on a voyage of discovery amongst the frequencies emitted by tibetan prayer bowls, drums, flutes and ancestral musical instruments.
Yoga
All kinds of yoga was offered on the October Wellness program, from Vinyasa Flow to Fit Yoga .
PiYo® LIVE
This class combined the muscle-sculpting and core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility of flowing yoga movements. Learn more.
Spa at Home
Village Spa’s therapists shared massage tips with guests so they could apply the techniques in their own home.
